In July 2019, WipWare conducted a two-day WipFrag training workshop in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, hosted by Austin Powder and organized with Haydon Materials. The workshop brought together new and experienced users for hands-on instruction in fragmentation analysis, combining classroom training with practical demonstrations at a local quarry.
The two-day workshop introduced participants to the capabilities of WipFrag fragmentation analysis software for Windows and iOS. New and existing users explored techniques for collecting representative fragmentation data, analyzing particle size distributions, and evaluating blast results.
The training also demonstrated how WipFrag can support more consistent fragmentation measurement, providing quantitative information for comparing blasting performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.

As part of the workshop, the WipWare team visited a local quarry to demonstrate WipFrag’s field applications and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or “drones,” for blast fragmentation assessment.
Participants learned how drone imagery can be processed into orthomosaics and analyzed using WipFrag. This approach allows larger areas of exposed blasted material to be assessed, complementing conventional ground-level photographs and supporting more representative fragmentation sampling.
The demonstration gave attendees an opportunity to explore practical image collection techniques and better understand how quantitative fragmentation measurements can support blasting decisions.
WipWare thanks Austin Powder and Haydon Materials for their hospitality and participation in the workshop, as well as the attendees for their enthusiasm and interest in WipFrag technology.
