On May 30, 2018, WipWare welcomed Philippe Galy-Jammou of SNF France and Bruno Cote of SNF Canada for a demonstration of UAV-based fragmentation analysis using WipFrag software. WipWare Chief Technical Officer Thomas Palangio and Technical Specialists Kevin Rivard and Marty Wanner demonstrated how drone imagery can be used to measure blast fragmentation and support quantitative assessments of blasted material.

The demonstration highlighted how UAV imagery and WipFrag software can be used together to assess blast fragmentation. High-resolution aerial photographs can be processed into orthomosaics, allowing larger areas of a blasted muckpile to be measured and analyzed.
By converting visible fragmentation into quantitative particle size distribution data, WipFrag helps mining operations evaluate blast results, compare fragmentation between blasts, and identify opportunities for optimization.
SNF Group is an international supplier of specialty chemicals and process solutions, including products used in mineral processing, water treatment, and tailings management. The visit provided an opportunity to introduce WipWare’s fragmentation measurement technology to representatives from SNF’s French and Canadian operations.
WipWare thanks Philippe and Bruno for their visit and their interest in WipFrag’s UAV analysis capabilities.
