O-Pitblast Demonstrates WipFrag Software

Instructor standing at classroom board

During November 13–17, 2017, O-Pitblast delivered technical training at Blaster University covering UAV applications, blast design, fragmentation measurement, and blast optimization. As part of the workshops, Francisco Leite, co-founder of O-Pitblast, demonstrated WipWare’s WipFrag software, introducing participants to digital particle size distribution (PSD) analysis and its applications in evaluating blast fragmentation.

The workshops explored the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for blast and topographic surveying, alongside techniques for fragmentation assessment, blast design, and optimization.

Francisco Leite demonstrated how WipFrag converts photographs of fragmented rock into quantitative particle size distribution (PSD) measurements. These results allow blasting professionals to evaluate fragmentation, compare blast outcomes, and make more informed decisions when reviewing blasting performance.

The demonstration introduced attendees to practical applications of digital fragmentation measurement within modern drilling and blasting workflows.

As part of the 2017 workshops, one participant was also offered a complimentary copy of WipFrag for Windows.

WipWare thanks Francisco Leite and O-Pitblast for incorporating WipFrag into the Blaster University workshops and introducing its capabilities to industry professionals.
