Tom C. Palangio is an explosive application specialist and former explosives consultant (Topex Inc.). He is also the co-founder, President and owner of WipWare Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tom’s career spans more than 50 years in the explosives industry starting with DuPont Canada Explosives Products Division in 1974, joining Explosives Technologies International in 1988, and forming Topex and WipWare in 1995. He has worked with various organizations and research groups throughout the world and has extensive experience in explosives manufacturing, application and performance testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tom pioneered the use of new technology as a means of improving blasting efficiency. He has published over 86 papers and presented lectures and workshops at various conferences and universities covering such diverse topics as high-speed photography, mechanical loading techniques, seismic vibration analysis, wall control methods and fragmentation assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He chaired the Blue Sky mining cluster in North Bay, served on the Ontario Mining Industry Cluster Council and is a past chair of the Northern Gateway branch of the CIM. He is currently president and a director for SAMSSA and chair of the NORCAT board of directors in Sudbury. He is a past chair of the Canadore College board of governors and presently serves on the Nipissing University board of governors and is chair of the audit and finance committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
