WipFrag Training at Austin Powder hosted by Austin Powder

Our technical specialists are always available to assist our customers in understanding the capabilities of our systems and software. WipWare prides itself in providing ongoing technical support in-house and on-site. A two-day training workshop on WipWare’s WipFrag software was conducted with Hayden Materials, and host Austin Powder, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

The WipFrag team visited a local quarry during the workshop. The team demonstrated WipFrag and the use of drone technology. As a result, Hayden Material customers attending the workshop saw the systematic approach to size data collection and the UAV capabilities of the WipFrag software.

With WipFrag, customers can take drone orthomosaic images and analyze these images. This ability gives the customer a full picture of their fragmentation and make quantitative decisions based on these results.

The two-day training allowed new and existing users to explore the capabilities of WipFrag for iOS and Windows and to learn new techniques that can help operators create accurate reliable size data after blasts.

Tips for using WipFrag Fragmentation Analysis Software

When acquiring image samples each image should:

  • Contain an easy to read scale (two for tilt correction). If using two scales, both should be horizontal.
  • Be high definition – Not necessarily high resolution.
  • Never be taken with a wide-angle lens.
  • Contain clearly visible particles (if you can outline each individual particle, the software can too).
  • Have consistent lighting – avoid hot spot/shadow areas if possible.

For more information, please read the Sampling and Analysis Guide found on our WipFrag product page.

SNF Group Visits WipWare

man operating a drone at sunset

WipWare’s Chief Technical Officer Thomas Palangio and Technical Specialists Kevin Rivard and Marty Wanner had the pleasure of working with some guests from SNF Group, demonstrating aerial imagery with drones and applications with our WipFrag photoanalysis software. Visiting our facility Wednesday May 30th were Philippe Galy-Jammou of SNF France and Bruno Cote of SNF Canada.

It was a great opportunity to showcase the capabilities of our WipFrag software and how it can be used with drone technology. With the use of drone technology, drone orthomosaic images of a muck pile can be taken and analyzed to give a complete picture of our customer’s blasts.

It was a great opportunity to showcase the capabilities of our software and we look forward to working with Philippe and Bruno in the future.

O-Pitblast Demonstrates WipFrag Software

Instructor standing at classroom board

Throughout this week of November 13-17, O-Pitblast has been lecturing at Blaster University on drone usage. The focus was for Blast and Topography Control. Additional training was on Fragmentation Control by Photo Analysis, Blast Design and Blast Optimization. As part of the lectures, Francisco Leite, Technical Services Director at O-Pitblast used WipWare’s WipFrag software. This software was excellent for demonstrating Blast Optimization and Fragmentation Analysis.

Students attending Blaster University Workshop at computers

Students had a great opportunity to see how WipWare’s fragmentation analysis software allows instant PSD analysis of digital images. One lucky student will be receiving a full version of WipFrag for Windows free for participating in the workshops.

Thank you again to Francisco Leite for providing this opportunity to showcase our WipFrag software to the Blaster University students.
