Attendees at the Modern Mining Technology Conference & Luncheon in Sudbury this month may be surprised by WipWare President Tom Palangio's presentation.
One of eight guest speakers at the event, Palangio's 'Fewer surprises when you can measure the sizes' will raise a few eyebrows as he challenges traditional particle sizing methods used in blast evaluation and mineral processing.
"In order to improve a process it is necessary to measure and "benchmark" existing conditions and production results," said Palangio. "Material handling applications in mining and mineral processing have been a challenge in the past because attempts to 'quantify' production were usually disruptive and 'grab samples', not necessarily representative of total production."
The conference is part of the second annual North America Mining Expo held August 19 and 20 at the McClelland Community Center, and is sponsored by Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association (SAMSSA). It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 19, bringing a diverse group of industry experts share their experience with representatives of mining companies interested in new technology and innovation.
