Over 27 teams consisting of over 700 students from around Ontario met at Nipissing University in North Bay for the annual FIRST Robotics competition this past weekend. This is an event that WipWare supports annually, and Thomas Palangio Chief Technical Officer was judging student creations from around Ontario: "The level of energy inside the facility during the competition is contagious. To have students who are engaged in science, technology and engineering at the high school level is something WipWare is proud to support."
Punching above their weight class has been commonplace for North Bay’s own Team 1305, who have qualified for the World Robotics Competition in back-to-back years. "“"It shows that Northern Ontario has a strong contingent of students ready to make an impact in the manufacturing and mining sectors in the years to come, and this is something North Bay companies will certainly benefit from."
This year was no disappointment for the North Bay team as they captured the 1st place prize in the competition as well as the Chairman’s Award. WipWare would like to wish team 1305 luck as thy will be competing next week in Mississauga with a chance at a birth in the World Robotic Competition in St Louis, Missouri on April 26th-29th.
