Thirty-three teams and almost 900 high school students from across the province travelled to North Bay Friday to compete for the district title. The fifth FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition was held at Nipissing University.
For two days, teams competed for the title to a packed audience. Lots of excitement and energy could be felt throughout the competition.
Thomas Palangio, Chief Technical Officer at WipWare also enjoyed the event as one of the judges for the competition.

It was great to see Anthony Rota and Mayor Al McDonald at the competition.

FIRST Team 1305 (Ice Cubed – Near North Student Robotics Initiative – FRC) struck gold this weekend at the Ontario District North Bay Robotic Competition and the strong finish pushed them into second place out of 157 robotic teams across the province.
Britney Lebel, captain and spokeswoman for Team 1305, said, “We’re so proud of everyone. It feels great to be part of an amazing team, which is more like a family.”

Congratulations to all the teams and helpers that made this event a great success.
