Canada Beats Sweden at World Women’s Curling Championship

The World Women’s Curling Championship held this past week in North Bay provided an exciting week of curling for all who attended. . Tom Palangio, President and Robert Palangio, Chief Financial Officer of WipWare attended the game and worked hard at enjoying it. It was a sensational week of championship curling with Canada heading into the finals with Sweden on Sunday.

A record 69,391 people attended the championship game. This was the highest Canadian attendance record at any World Women’s Curling Championship in Canada for the week-long event at 69, 391.

It was a nail-biter of a tournament with the reigning Olympic champion Sweden battling 2014 Olympic champion Canada…number one versus number two in the world rankings. The curlers played an extra end to determine the gold medal winner with Canada and Sweden tied 6-6.

A jubilant Jennifer Jones gave credit to the fans, “Unbelievable. I’m so happy. I can’t say enough about my team. We had a great week. We soaked up the atmosphere in the crowd and had fun in that final. I’m just so thrilled to be able to stand on top of the podium with these girls one more time”.
